We had a great time last night at a local golf course providing mobile archery and Western yard games for the club member’s summer party. Coaches Lynn Sherwood, Scott Austin and Gloria Courser worked at the event. While there, they got very lucky and noticed a bear at 3 Creek Ranch Golf Club in Jackson Hole. “It walked right by the archery area!” Lynn described it as being “very fast!”
Archery Coach Gloria Courser had a “bear experience” several years ago that she wrote about in her blog. This sighting sound like it was a bit more calm.
Scott Austin, an avid outdoorsman has seen his share of bears, but said he always feels blessed when he gets to see another one. JH Shooting CEO Lynn Sherwood said that she had seen bears in the past, but that this sighting was surreal. It is so good to see that animals and people can live together in harmony, and that this young bear had never had a negative life experience regarding humans.
Three Creek Ranch’s website says, “…Living at 3 Creek Ranch is a private communion with nature, yet the bustling mountain town of Jackson, WY is only 5 minutes away….” This bear seemed to be emphasizing the point.
Three Creek Security Director Brice Dudley said he had never seen a bear at 3 Creek Ranch until about three years ago, and since then he has sighted bear twice. 3 Creek Golf Director Greg Glover said that in his 10 years at Three creek Golf course, this was his first bear sighting. Even when taking his family to Yellowstone, he had never seen a bear. He laughed and said, “If I ever do really see a bear it’ll be at 3 Creek Ranch!” Funny how things work out.
