I took one of their classes on my birthday and had more fun than I have in a long time. Their instructors are so knowledgeable I was instantly at ease and I learned a ton! They are also enthusiastic about shooting and safety and it is impossible to leave and not be grinning from ear to ear. Thank you so much for a fabulous birthday!!

The instruction provided by Jackson Hole Shooting Experience is second to none. The classes are extremely focused and professionally conducted.
The instructors are highly interactive and provide an extremely safe environment.
I would recommend the conceal carry course to anyone interested in personal protection; whether you are a first time shooter or one who is very experienced.
The course offers a full day of great education and fun.

Shepard’s sage instructions, sprinkled with entertaining banter and the seriousness of shooting safety and ettiquette, surpased our expectations, which frankly were high knowing our friend, Shepard, to begin with. He transformed my bespeckled wife into a veritable Annie Oakley and made us two gents better marksmen to boot. It was one of those halcyon days of fall in Jackson Hole, which made this experience all the better!

You could not ask for a friendlier more patient instructor than Shepard. My family and I are all novice shooters, but by the end of the session all of us were ready to purchase our first firearm. Shepard made the entire experience fun and memorable. This was absolutely the highlight of our week in Jackson Hole. Also, have your camera phone ready because Shepard will take several action shots.

We spent an exhilarating and fun afternoon with , and being British, it was our first experience of guns and shooting.
Shephard was very knowledgable, informative and FUN, FUN, FUN all the way !
He’s such a great guy who shares his passion with you, nothing is too much trouble including my son shooting the .50 caliber monster!!
My son wanted the used cartridge for posterity but we couldn’t find it unfortunately.
But to our amazement, later that evening, Shephard had not not found it, but delivered it to our hotel !!
We cannot thank him or praise him highly enough for helping create memories that will last our lifetimes.

We chose the shooting experience for our father’s 62nd birthday, not knowing what to expect, we were more than pleased! It was all of our first times visiting Jackson Hole and this was our favorite part; knowledgable, safe, fun and memorable. There was four of us, we had his full attention, we all got to shoot multiple guns ranging from hand to rifles, and hit targets as far as 600+ yards away. A big thanks to Shepard! We will be back for round two!

My friend was planning a trip to Jackson Hole to spend a week working on his shooting skills with Shepard and asked if I would like to come along. A week away from work shooting guns in beautiful Teton country? Heck yeah! I have been looking at updating my pistol anyways and thought this would be a great way to test out some new handguns.
I’m not much for writing, but the experience was so positive that I wanted to pass along kudos to Shepard and his outfit. I was fortunate enough to spend 5 consecutive days at the range shooting everything from sniper rifles to a multitude of pistols. I was able to improve my skills on the range and incorporate some real life scenes for that “just in case” situation.
Shepard and the Shooting Experience delivered everything that was promised and then some. It was safe, informative , and fun. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and/or recommend it to others. It was definitely the highlight of my trip out west. I hope to do it again sometime.

We had so much fun and got to shoot a huge range of rifles and pistols and semi-automatics. It was a real education about what we’re skilled at, plus just great fun. One thing: we had Andy as an instructor and he was just right for us, being young and sharing interests with a 20 year old male eg gaming. it might have been not so much fun with one of the older instructors (sorry guys!!).

Coming from countries where gun laws are super strict, me (french) and my partner (british) had a blast at the shooting range.
Shepard was really helpful and we got to try loads and loads of different guns, from .22 to a desert eagle. They had also really cool rifles like a WW1 Russian Mosin Nagant and a WW2 US rifle (Garand? Forgot now!)
Even my partner who is far from being a gun enthusiast thought that was fun, so I’d recommend it to everyone!

My uncle, cousin, and I were recommended by our hotel concierge to try out the JH Shooting Experience and we were extremely thankful he did. All of us had some previous experience handling and shooting guns, but are by no means shooting/gun experts. After a few hours with Shepard as our instructor we were able to build on our shooting/gun knowledge and skill. We could not of asked for a better instructor than Shepard; it was obvious he knew what he was talking about with years of experience. Also, Shepard combined his great expertise with professionalism. There was a great balance between education about shooting/guns and just overall having a great time and fun.
We definitely all agreed this is a must do when we visit Jackson, WY again and no doubt recommend to all that visit the area no matter if you are a beginner or expert.

I never knew that I wanted to experience shooting guns. After 3 hours with Shepard, I’m hooked. Shepard was the perfect instructor to introduce a novice to shooting rifles and pistols. His laid back personality coupled with his incredible experience made for an epic afternoon. Today with Shepard was a number one lifetime experience.

A friend and I decided to get some expert help in pistol shooting. I recently received my pistol license , and rather than wade into it on my own, I thought it made sense to learn the craft some first. My buddy has had pistols for many years , but fell out of the habit of keeping up his skills. I had been to the JHSE last year for a multigun experience for fun and caught the bug. I went home and did the paperwork for my license and came on out to learn a thing or two.
The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. I emailed Lynn Sherwood and told her what I hoped to achieve. I wanted to learn about the safety and care of pistols, wanted to become as proficient as possible in a week (and learn some takehome drills) , and wanted to learn what pistols worked well for me before buying. She set up everything with Shepard as our instructor. They worked around our schedule and you could feel the enthusiasm come through her emails.
Fast forward to our week in JH. Shepard met us Day One for the multigun experience and reconfirmed our goals. He emphasized range safety and demonstrated its importance daily. We had a great first day and we were excited about the week.
Each day thereafter, Shepard designed our 2 hours to include drills, safety,skills. and lots of shooting. Each day got more challenging advancing from the basics to real life scenarios with multiple targets while moving through a pistol course. We didn’t want to miss a thing and we were there 15 minutes early every day to find Shepard ready to go. He often went over the 2 hours as well and was extremely generous with his time. I can’t say enough about him as an instructor and individual. I have been exposed to many teachers in my life as I am a physician and have many hobbies that required instruction such as mountaineering and ice climbing. Shepard is at the top of the list in my experience in what it takes to teach others. He is knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic, self-deprecating , and has that set of intangibles that make a student want to learn and want to be around him. He is great in teaching theory and practical matters, and my shooting partner felt the same way.
We started this week as neophytes and came away fairly proficient and with a strong desire to get moreso. We will take home a set of skills and knowledge that we can work on, and I can’t wait to return to JH next year to continue building my skill set with Shepard.
We also had the chance to meet Terry , Lynn Sherwood , and Andy Ward on this trip , and I worked with Colt for 3 hours last year. I am sure that they all provide an excellent service and know that Shepard and Lynn run a great business and provide a top notch service. Give them a try. You won’t be sorry!

i have to start with how good Shepard is – he truly makes your day with his humour, wit and fantastic instruction. my husband and I had the 1,000 round package at $595 for the first shooter plus $100 for the next shooter – you may think that its expensive but we have over $200 on just 2 guns in other ranges. In this package we had rifles, handguns and guns that i couldn’t even pick up. I cant name all the guns as there were too many but the experience web page will give you all the info you need.
You don’t need to take anything with you as eyes and ears are provided as well as water and snacks.
My husband is an experienced shooter by UK standards but still took advantage of the tuition passed on by Shepard who showed him better stances and firing positions for the different types of guns. I had difficulty hitting the target to start with until after only 1 gun Shepard noticed that even though I am right handed i should have been shooting left handed as I am left eye dominant – what a difference this made and I soon started to keep up with the hubby. This shows what a great instructor Shepard is.
We had little competitions between ourselves such as times shooting and the best distance. I gave up with the guns once we got to the larger calibre handguns as they were too heavy for me but Mike (Hubby) had all my shots so we didn’t miss out on anything.
As an added bonus Andy the instructor who was working next to us left his brilliant new expensive christmas present for us to have a go with as it may have disturbed us when his client was using it – these are really nice guys.
Mike also had 1 shot with a Smith and Wesson .50 handgun which was another added bonus – if you were brave enough to use it. This one off shot produced many expletives from Mike and many laughs from me.
This was a fantastic day out and very good value for money. We are even thinking of visiting the area again to take private tuition with Shepard. Thanks guys.

Great experience for my family of 5. My wife, 3 teenage boys and myself. All had a great time. We were inexperienced, so we learned a lot and the boys thought it was very cool. Somewhat costly, but worth it. Highly recommend it!

Shepard, our shooting instructor, met us at in the parking lot with ear protectors and made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Gun safety was top priority as two of the three of us had no prior shooting experience. We had requested an introduction to handguns and Shepard allowed us to try a variety of different ones throughout our lesson. Shep was a fun, but highly professional and we loved our day of shooting at JHGC.

I’ve always wanted to shoot some high powered, long range rifles, but have never had the opportunity. Shepard had any gun you could think of at my disposal, and didn’t just let me shoot them, but really helped me sharpen my skills at long distances. I would recommend these guys to any shooter, of any skill level, who is just looking to have a great time, or to get serious and to improve their abilities. In my opinion, you just couldn’t learn from someone more knowledgeable, experienced, or friendly.

Our Jackson Hole Shooting Experience was one of the highlights of an incredible week spent in Jackson Hole. My father had very little shooting experience, my brother and I none at all so we arrived excited but also nervous. Shepard was our instructor and did an incredible job of explaining everything in a way that made us sure that safety was a top priority while still being remarkably personable and getting us excited to shoot. He had each of us explain the mechanics of the first rifle we used to the next one to shoot, a great technique to speed up our comprehension. After a few shots Shepard realized that I was a left-eyed shooter and had me switch, something I would never have figured out on my own as a righty, but it made all the difference. We got to shoot a huge variety of rifles and handguns, do a speed shooting test, and even had the option to shoot a sniper rifle or machine gun. With each gun Shepard gave great advice and tips so that we all managed to be very successful with each one. He had eye and ear protection, beverages and snacks all ready for us so that the only thing we had to worry about doing was sighting and shooting. Shepard had great recommendations for which guns we should use when there were options, and was very flexible-I didn’t want to shoot the rifles with a big kick and my father preferred a handgun that was more precise. We both had great results with the guns Shepard picked based on those requests. He was knowledgeable about the history of all of the types of guns as well as the activities of locals using the range-one man was prepping for a sheep hunt in Alaska and another was testing ammunition spreads. He seemed to be enjoying himself too which made it that much more fun for the rest of us since everyone was having a good time. We would all definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Jackson Hole (provided they don’t have a fear of loud noises-our mother, who jumps and squeals at explosions in the movies did not make the cut for this excursion). I feel like we all gained a greater respect and understanding of proper gun handling, as well as just how powerful these weapons are. We left far better educated about guns than we were when we arrived, and best of all we did that while having a ton of fun!

Initially I was very hesitant out the idea of shooting a gun, especially coming from New York City. However, I could not pass up this chance for my 17 year old son who has been deeply passionate about American history and weaponry for years.
Our instructor, Andy, started the course with eye and ear protection and detailed safety information regarding the proper way to hold and handle guns. A superb, patient, and good humored teacher , Andy instructed us on the proper technique for holding and using each rifle and pistol to not only avoid injury but to also have the best accuracy when hitting a target. Hitting the targets (or trying to) was amazingly fun! The 3 hours went by very quickly. There are drinks in a cooler and snacks for anyone who is thirsty or hungry.
My boys brought home a bunch on their spent bullet casings home as souvenirs. I will not be doing this at all in NYC where the mentality about guns is very different, but I would definitely come back to the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience to do this again.

A girlfriend and I were in Jackson Hole for a “work stress” getaway. We read about Jackson Hole Shooting Experience in a magazine and decided to try it. We both were so happy we did! It is unlike anything either of us has ever done before, but it’s the activity that we keep talking about and has given us so many good memories and smiles. Shepard was our instructor–and I’m not quite sure how he can take 3 hours at a shooting range and make you wish you had 3 more afterward, but he does. He’s knowledgeable, professional, and has the type of personality that made us feel safe and excited about shooting a wide variety of guns. We learned how to behave at a shooting range while never feeling out of place, learned to safely handle guns we’ve never seen or heard of before, and we had such a great day experiencing it! We want to go back and do it again!!!!!!

We gave our son a Shooting Experience for his 18th birthday present. He shoots competitively in the UK and was keen to improve his skills as well as have some fun. That’s why we decided to book time with an instructor rather than take a package. Following a number of emails and phone calls, Lynn put together a programme which made this a truly unforgettable experience, tailored to our son’s interests.
Terry was his instructor and I cannot praise him highly enough. My son wanted some coaching in pistol shooting and Terry was an excellent teacher. After that he got to shoot a wide variety of pistols and rifles from the huge choice available. That the instructors clearly enjoyed their work and loved sharing their shooting experience made our visit all the more memorable.
Everybody involved from start to finish pulled out all the stops to make this the best possible experience. A big thank you to all of you!

My family and husband’s family picked Jackson Hole for a special vacation all together this year. All 9 of us (ages 22 – 75!) had the best time practicing with about 12 types of hand guns and rifles. We had the help of two great instructors: Terry and Shepard. They were both amazing and so helpful. This is a really unique activity to do especially in a place like Jackson – I definitely recommend it and think anyone would have fun here!

We are a shooting family. We thought a day at the range would be fun. So much fun being introduced to some firearms we’ve only seen on TV (my favorite? the lever action rifle; while my sons and husband loved the AK47). Having Sheppard share his knowledge of the firearms and the proper stance and grip was priceless. It was also nice to handle a wide selection of firearms to help discern what we’d like to add to our collection and, just as importantly, what we would not like to purchase. I can’t say enough about Sheppard’s professionalism and friendliness. We all felt comfortable and at ease. Easily the best day of vacation!

One of our goals for our Jackson Hole vacation was to give our family (“kids” 17 & 20) exposure to new activities. Combined with hiking, rafting, downhill mountain biking, and rodeo, the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience was a great capstone for our last day in Jackson.
Three hours was just the right amount of time for 3 shooters. We had time to fire small caliber rifles and pistols to get us acquainted, and then moved up to to the larger caliber guns throughout the time. We were able to use rifles with iron sights, scopes and red dot sights , and fired weapons from WW1 and modern eras.
Shepard was a great instructor, and taught firearm and range safety as well as a history and operations of the firearms we were using.
I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity while in Jackson!

The shooting experience was great fun ! The instructors are super friendly, very knowledgable, and professional. We got to shoot a wide range of rifles, handguns and for a few $$$ extra we had the awesome experience of shooting a 50 caliber. If your children are mature enough they will work with almost any age while of course focusing first on gun safety ! Witht he package we bought we got a cool little personally inscribed bullet keychain. Oh, and we got to keep the gun shell of the 50 caliber we shot ! Would totally recommend this while in WY !

My husband and I met up with Shep. He was wonderful, not only did he talk about safety he explained the gun and what it would be like when we shot it. We started out with 22’s and worked our way up! I highly recommend going here for the ultimate shooting experience. Your eyes and ears are well protected at all times. Ted shot a 50 cal revolver, OMG it was awesome! For a few bucks more you can shoot the biggest gun I have ever seen! 50 caliber rifle. It will definitely give you bragging rights. My husband and son both shot it and have earned the right to brag. You must go, it is an amazing experience. Thanks Shep see you on our next visit to Jackson Hole!

Our family of 5 (kids ages 17, 14 and 12), had the expert intruction of Andy and Terry. For our first time on a range, we learned so much about gun safety and the variety of guns that we were shooting. The history behind some of the weapons was interesting. My kids said hands down, most fun of our vacation. The instructors were excellent and really made the experience everything we hoped. It is something not to miss while in the area!

What was special about our experience with Jackson Hole Shooting Experience: Everything!!
Beginning with Shep and Lynn Sherwood whose welcoming, personable style invited us into the Jackson Hole Gun Club for an invigorating afternoon. From the very beginning safety was stressed. We were handed both ear and eye protection and offered instruction in its proper fit and use. Next came basic instructions about the setting and the protocol for its use so that each guest would at all times be proceeding in a manner safe for himself and everyone else. Shep and Lynn communicated with clarity and vitality. You couldn’t help but pay close attention to their instruction and make every effort to respond accordingly. It was clear from the very start that we were going to have not just a uniquely educational and safe experience in the use of firearms but a thrilling one as well. Their animated, responsive and engaging style was ideally suited to create both an educational and thrilling experience. We were two guests in a group of five, each with differing levels of experience in the use of firearms and yet each of us was treated with the same respect, quality of instruction and attention to the process. We came away from the experience feeling enlightened and educated about the safe and skillful use of firearms. And with all that said we had a thrilling time, too.

Four of us, not all experienced, had a great time. We drew Shepard as our coach and he made the three hours even more fun. He started with .22s but we ended up with the AR 15 and taking 500 yard shots with a sniper rifle. Lots of good “to do” stuff about handling guns, and some fun games like timed shooting at multiple targets. You don’t at all have to be a “gun person” to really like this experience.

Our family spent 3 fantastic hours with Shepard enjoying the multi-gun shooting experience. Of course, our 13-year old son was in heaven, not only with the WIDE variety of gun options but with the chance to pick the guns he would shoot, including the 50-caliber, which he and his father delighted in unloading. Maybe a bit surprising, our 15-year old daughter had a great time, too, although like me, she preferred to shoot guns that leave smaller holes (i.e. 22-caliber). The great thing was, each of us got to pick which guns we’d like to shoot so that everyone could shoot in their comfort zone and have a good time. And we learned a lot! We would repeat the experience in a heartbeat. I am sure we will next time we are in Jackson.

I would give them 10 stars if I could! It begins with Lynn who was amazing to work with and coordinate our visit. She is the ultimate professional with top notch customer service skills! We went hours out of our way to give our son this adventure as a birthday gift, but honestly, we enjoyed it as much as he did. After reading all of the reviews, I had my hopes up that we too would have Shepard as our instructor. Another family pulled in at the same time and Shepard was their instructor. I worried for no good reason – a minute later, our guide Andy introduced himself and we began. We could hear Shep next to us but he and Andy were BOTH equally wonderful!! I leaned over to my husband about an hour into our experience and said, I am convinced that EVERYONE here is awesome and I was totally thrilled with our choice. I use Tripadvisor for everything and after researching many options this, by far, was the best experience! Huge thanks to all at Jackson Hole Gun Club for a great time! My son has not stopped talking about the 50 cal and Civil War era gun!!!

Six of us spent three and a half hours with Shepard and Colt doing the Multi-gun rifle and pistol experience and it was a blast!
Shepard and Colt took us from shooting targets with 22 rifles and pistols through every rifle and hand gun imaginable including a very cool1928 Russian rifle, an AK-47 and the 50 calibre sniper rifle shooting a 4 inch target at 600 yards.
Both Shepard and Colt were very professional and safety conscience. They took the necessary time to explain the appropriate handling of all the weapons.

Shepard went well beyond the basics of shooting and into legal, moral and financial issues that one should consider before ever using a weapon in self defense. Short version – This is hands down a great time hosted by a great guy!
Long version – We are a Philly suburbs family of 4 and were in Jackson on our daughter’s 16th birthday. Suffice it to say she would have preferred to have been home until I surprised her, my son and wife with this activity. My daughter’s fondness for a Christmas Story led me to get her a pellet gun a few years back for some target shooting in our back yard. She is a surprisingly good shot and enjoys making me look bad. My son thinks the pellet gun is ok (he is more impressed with the weaponry in C.O.D. which he got to really shoot here) and my wife is ok with all this but is not really a gun person. That said, I knew my daughter would enjoy this but the fact that all four of us participated as a family and none of us could stop talking about this experience is what really blew me away (pun intended). Shepard was there to greet us upon our arrival, got us geared up with glasses and ear protection and within 5 minutes he was talking us through the afternoon’s events and even got my wife comfortable with the idea of participating. By minute 10 my daughter was being instructed as to how to safely handle the first gun of the day and then proceeded to hit target after target. My wife jumped in and thought it was cool and then my son and I got to go. We were hooked! I put a family bet of a large DQ blizzard for the best shooter of the day and we knew who the winner was after my daughter hit the 25, 50 and 75 yard targets in 1.6 seconds. This even impressed the more experienced group of guys next to us who were paired up with Andy (another great JHSE guy) whose best was 1.8. Shepard, was funny, professional and patient as we worked our way through the afternoon and made our way through quite a collection of firearms. As we finished, Shepard brought out the 50mm big gun for our daughter to shoot. She finished the day blasting the 460 yard target and putting the biggest smile we have seen on her face. Did she have a great 16th birthday, absolutely. Did we all have a great afternoon that we will remember for a very long time, heck yeah!!!

I can tell you that you will be missing out if you do not take the time to get the Shepard Humphries shooting experience. Shepard is great! He is a great teacher, funny, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and kind. I didn’t know what to expect when booking, but we will certainly go back to see him again. My wife had never shot a gun and by the end of the class she was shooting a .308 rifle and successfully hit a 300, 400, and 500 yd target not to mention learning how to shoot a pistol (9mm & .40). We will be visiting the gun store when we get home. I believe that we have found a new hobby not to mention how it makes me feel to have my wife understand all different types of guns. She did great and Shepard made it happen with his meaningful explanation and teaching. This is a must do for individuals, couples and families. Men you need to shoot the .500 S&W (not for faint of heart). Shepard if you ever get down in the Dallas area give me a ring. Would love to get together

As a European family we were unaccustomed to guns and thought it could be a worthwhile experience for our boys of 13 and 16 to gain some knowledge and experience. Never did we anticipate that it would be so much fun! Shepard, our instructor, made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived and filled the morning not only with insights about guns but also with lots of humor. We went through a whole range of rifles, pistols and even semi-automatic weapons (including the (in)famous AK-47). Somehow he managed to let all of us “win” at different challenges. We had a great time and a truly unique experience. The boys immediately changed their profile photos on Facebook into pictures taken while shooting. I am sure they will tell their friends back home that this was the highlight of their entire vacation!

Our family with children (one boy and two girls) from 10 to 22 plus two adults each had an exceptional experience. Shepard always vigilant and mindful about safety kept the program fun and informative. The exposure to all the different types of firearms is one that cannot be matched in our area in New Jersey. I can’t imagine another situation where i would allow my 10 year old daughter to fire a 9mm pistol! She handled it expertly under the watchful eye and tutelage of Shepard. My son, never eager to try new activities, always wanted to be first to experience the various firearms presented….I couldn’t even keep track of how many guns we fired….really a special experience…great fun for everyone!

The Jackson Hole Shooting Experience was such an awesome experience. My friends and I had the opportunity to shoot over a dozen different kinds of guns. I don’t own a gun nor do I know much about guns, but it was such an exhilarating experience. Not only did we get to shoot the guns, but we also learned history about the guns, terminology, and safety. Shepard, our instructor, was amazing. A great people person. I knew it would be a fun experience, but not nearly as much fun as we had!

This experience was so much fun, totally worth the price. Shot a range of weapons with our great instructor Andy. We were planning on having just a two hour shooting experience which turned in almost 3 hours with no extra charge! I would recommend this for all ages…don’t miss out on it!

This was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in Jackson or anywhere! My group did the multi-gun pistol and rifle experience. We shot some .22’s, 9mm’s, .45’s, AR-15’s, an M1, and we even opted to shoot the behemoth aka the mother… The 50 Cal. Holy smokes was that a boom!
I can’t recommend this experience more, and Sheppard was great.

As almost complete Gun novices my wife and I found this an educational, safe and YES a lot of Fun Experience. Our Instructor put us right at ease from the start, friendly, with safety first and took us through the basic aspects of shooting, getting us to hit the targets up to 300yds, away.
Amazing where did the 3 hours go?!! Recommend to anyone who wants to try a first step on the range.

I was unsure about how shooting guns was going to translate in to a fun afternoon but I left feeling like it was the most thrilling thing I have ever done in Jackson. Jackson Hole Shooting Experience is totally unique! The Staff is so nice and accommodating. They immediately made me feel comfortable with the guns by starting small and moving up. By the end of the session I shot a Dessert Eagle!

My day at Jackson Hole Shooting Experience was incredible. Everything started out with “Shep” meeting us out at the main gate with a big smile and a firm handshake. I think we was almost as excited as we were. Shep was all about making sure we were having fun and were very comfortable. We went through the full gamut of weapons starting out with 22’s and I even got to shoot a Bushmaster 50 cal. It was so much fun and my facebook page is now filled with photos and all my friends are so jealous. It is fun for the whole family, we were there with a larger group mixed with girls and guys. The girls were better shooters then the guys and boy did we hear it afterwards. I would do it again in a second.

Shepard and Andy gave us the full safety talk and were very conscientious about safety which put us at ease. Once we started shooting it was a ball. We had 3 teen girls, none of whom shoot guns, but they enjoyed the different guns and pistols and really had fun. I think we had so much fun we are going to find a shooting range when we get back home. It’s a great way to spend a few hours blowing stuff up. Actually just shooting targets, but still great fun.

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. We were a group of 9 adults and all had the time of our lives. The amount of time that Shephard and Lynn have put into this small business clearly shows. Safety is their first priority and the educated instructors were patient and helpful. We shot a wide variety of guns and actually went over our allotted amount of time as everyone was having so much fun. There were some competitions set up for us which made the whole experience that much better. Thank you to Shephard and Lynn for taking the time to personalize an experience for us that we will remember forever.

What a great experience! We were a group of four, ages 49, 48, 18 and 17. The young girls had never shot any guns. We were instructed by Shepard, who was kind, easy-going and a gentle teacher. We got to shoot so many kinds of guns from .22 rifles and handguns to military high-calibur rifles. Safety was always at the forefront, and Shepard’s knowledge and good humor made learning fun. We even got an engraved souvenir at the end. Expensive, but worth every penny!

My wife and I (both city slickers) are gun novices. The education that Shep provided was excellent. From safety through how a gun fires was top notch. It was a great experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. We shot about 20 different guns today. From a .22 caliber handgun to AR 15. The outside gun range shooting made it even more memorable. Don’t hesitant, it’s an easy decision.

We elected to do just pistol and rifle to get an opportunity to shoot a variety. We have a lot of shotgun experience so didn’t need that, and we had some pistol experience, but wanted to try some different things. The instructors were fun, safe, knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly. Andy was great! It was great fun. At the end we elected to each take a shot on the .50 Cal sniper rifle- freakin’ awesome! Worth the money. We were there somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. So much fun. If you have the means- do it!!!

I am not sure how I can add any further accolades to the previous reviews but I would be happy to share a personal experience that rates in my book as impressive.
Before I do however , I have to commend Shepard on his professionalism and expertise, noting his advise and instructions which were full-circle. After a very thorough gun safety discussion and demonstration, we had the opportunity to fire numerous examples of impressive handguns and rifles in a variety of situations. Impressively, he hand-tailored the experience based on his acute understanding of our needs and transitioned it into a personally satisfying experience.
Aforementioned, he successfully instructed me how to fire a scoped standard .308 rifle, onto a 10 inch target, 600 yards away….This guys rocks… Highly recommended. Enough said

When my family was planning for the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience we initially had a mother and sister who were not keen to shooting or firearms in general. Any worries they had faded shortly after the Experience began. Shepard and Andy provided instruction and training to ease them into shooting, while also catering to the competitive attitudes shared by the boys. Starting with .22’s and working all the way up to the .50 Caliber sniper rifle the entire family had a blast and the Experience was one of the highlights of our trip. Later in the week due to weather we found ourselves with a free day and contacted Shepard again who put together a second day filled with our favorite guns from the first. Shepard knocked the second day out of the park with his firearm suggestions and we found ourselves already counting on returning to the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience next time we are in the valley. The Jackson Hole Shooting Experience is most definitely a must. A great time with an awesome instructor that will have everyone leaving with smiles on their faces.

Just came back from the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience with 4 older teenagers who had never shot a firearm in theirs lives. The instruction was first rate with a great emphasis on safety and keeping it fun and interesting. We did the “Rifle and Pistol Multigun experience”. It took about 3 hours and took place on the outdoor Jackson Hole shooting range. We started with. 22 cal single shot rifles and moved on to 22 lever action and 22 Ruger pistol. We then moved to 9 and 45 cal pistols and then to larger caliber rifles both with iron sights, red dots and scopes, including a AR style rifle in 5.56, an AK 7.62 X 39, a Mosin Nagant in 7.62 X 54, and a Remington 700 in 308 that we could shoot out to 600 yds and a 50 cal Black Powder percussion cap rifle just for fun. The kids had a blast. They said it was the best thing that they did all week in Jackson Hole. I think that we may just have some future sports shooters in the future!!

We participated in this event a few weeks ago. With two groups over two days we inundated the staff and range. They were well prepared, competent, and NOT stingy with ammunition. They were very friendly and were able to make shooters out of non-shooters. Very highly recommended!

I am a Jackson native, and had family come visit this last weekend. The ages of our group were 20-55 (3 women and 3 men) and we had some non-skiers in the family, so I was trying to find activities for us to participate in outside of skiing at the village and exploring Jackson. It’s always a little harder to fill up time in the winter than in the summer, so when I thought of the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience, I was so excited! I gave them a call, very easily set up the trip, and we were ready to go!
My expectations for the experience were pretty high, as I work for a lodging facility that accommodated a large corporate group in the fall of 2012, and that group did the shooting experience and had a fantastic time: I didn’t stop hearing about it for days! I am happy to report that my expectations were wildly exceeded, and everyone in my family walked away having had the experience of a lifetime!
Everyone in my family was able to shoot guns ranging from smaller pistols to larger caliber weapons. Shepard worked with each of us individually to make sure that we each felt comfortable with the weapon: the more nervous shooters were given a little more instruction and could sit down to the shoot the larger weapons, while the more experienced shooters were able to stand up, shoot for longer range targets etc. My brother’s girlfriend was especially nervous, as she had had a bad experience shooting before, but she walked away feeling so much more comfortable, and really enjoyed herself!
Shepard and Lynn are just the nicest people you will ever meet, and they are so accommodating. I am recommending the shooting experience to all of our guests at my workplace, for future family who comes to visit, and for anyone who decides to visit Jackson Hole!

I thought we should wait for the euphoria of the day to subside before penning a review but, in retrospect, I’m sure it has made no difference…
Having now returned home to sunny Yorkshire, England and having related many times the details of our eleven days of holiday based in Jackson to family and friends, we’ve come to the following conclusion: Weather, food, accommodation, people and the town were great, skiing was sublime, Ski-Doing to Old Faithful was beyond fantastic but the very, very best time was spent with Shepard and his guns. My almost 13 year old is desperate to get back to school to tell his friends about his sharp-shooting! We’ve all been proudly showing off the biggest bullet-casings we fired and we still can’t believe we, as complete novices, got to handle quite so many varied, interesting and powerful firearms.
Shepard, and Rob, made the afternoon so much fun and kept everyone safe. Guns are completely alien to us Limeys and we came away feeling like we’d learned loads – and had even managed to hit most(!) of the targets. The warming-room at JHGC was a very welcome feature and our instructors made the day with their constant attention, banter, stories and second-to-none hospitality.
In short, this event is just brilliant and is worth every penny. We can’t wait to do it again!

I have been going to Jackson Hole for over 20 years and this was one of the best days I have ever had there. Shepard was ultra professional and safety conscious while still keeping it fun for our group. One of our friends had never touched a gun before and Shepard had them hitting targets 600yds out with a sniper rifle by days end. (True story) If you are going to do 1 thing while you’re in Jackson do this!!

Shep Humphries is an outstanding host and teacher. My family and I had an absoulute blast. Shot in 15 degrees below zero and still had a hoot. My one comment is that it is a little expensive. I think if the fee was lower, you would have more clients…..either way, well worth it..
