Physical Therapist Brian Prax moved to Jackson in 1996 to pursue his career as a Physical Therapist in Jackson Hole and his passion for climbing. He has become more “Wyoming” every day since then. He initially started shooting for the sole purpose of harvesting Elk to which he had become addicted to eating.
After trying his hand at kayaking, mountain biking, Himalayan expedition climbing, sport bike racing, roller derby refereeing, and sliding down hill in the snow on every conceivable piece of plastic out there, eventually his love of physics got the best of him and long range precision shooting became his obsession. Now his free time is mostly spent perfecting the ultimate combination of powder, brass and projectile or field testing his concoctions out to 2,000 yards.
Precision rifle competition and extreme long range hunting have become his primary sports year round. He has even recruited and trained his wife and 10 year old son to be top notch spotters. His passion for the sport is contagious and one of the few things he loves more than shooting is watching other people fall in love with it. Be forewarned that an afternoon spent with Brian at the shooting range will most certainly result in facial and abdominal muscle soreness due to extreme laughter, which is the other reason for the ear protection.
