Learn more about our long range shooting school and your opportunity to
attempt One Mile-PLUS extreme long range shots with our world class shooting partner Nomad Rifleman!
Our Multi-Gun Experience gives an excellent introduction to shooting sports including rifles and pistols shooting out to 600 yards. It does not however, allow opportunities to hit targets that are over 1 mile away or delve more deeply into the hows and whys as does our long range shooting school.
Our Nomad Rifleman opportunity is perfect for the successful person that values their time highly and wants to achieve a rare feat, a one mile shot! At just under $10k for two people, this is not right for everyone. We also offer a less expensive option for shooters that have their own guns, ammo, gear, etc. Learn more about this option in our long range shooting school HERE.

While you enjoy your Long Range Shooting School, we will discuss and practice:
The first couple of hours of your private Long Range Shooting School will be spent developing fundamentals with a 22LR, and .223 Rem and a .308 Winchester from 100 to 1,200 yards. Next we spend some time “plinking” with the 6.5 Creedmoor at targets between 1,000 yards and 1800+ yards. Then we shoot our 7mm Rem Magnum and our 300 Win Mag at targets out to 2,200 yards. Much like golf instruction by Tiger Woods, a Hole in One is not guaranteed, however many of our client do achieve 1 mile hits!
We teach as much or as little as YOU prefer. One member of your family might only care about achieving the bucket list accomplishment of a Mile-Long Shot. Someone else might be curious about MOA and wind, spin drift etc. We customize your day based on each of your unique needs and desires.
With our 2021 ELR-1 package, you shoot out to 2,200 yards in this training at targets as small as 1 MOA! You will leave this extreme long range shooting experience with improved knowledge and skills and will likely describe it as one of the best days of your life! Founders Scott Austin and Shepard Humphries literally “wrote the book” Extreme Long Range Shooting with Shepard & Scott. You will be challenged and will likely accomplish much more than you expected.
This long range shooting experience is excellent as a unique excursion for adventure travelers, a treat for family, friends and clients and is also a popular choice for serious rifle shooters seeking to improve their precision long range rifle skills.

Why choose Nomad Rifleman?
Our long range shooting team is led by Scott Austin & Shepard Humphries. Both men have different personalities and styles which compliment each-other well. We only train civilians, and recreational extreme long range shooting is their passion. Fortunately, many successful people enjoy Shepard and Scott’s style, and find our premium extreme long range shooting experiences to be an excellent value. We are certainly not the cheapest option, and instead we focus on excellence. We actually “wrote the book” on extreme long range shooting, and we enjoy learning more and helping share our knowledge with others!
Scott Austin – Nomad Rifleman Co-Founder
- Scott is smart, loves gizmos and understands some physics and math. He enjoys having his smart phone connected wirelessly to his Kestrel that is on a tripod with a weather-vane. Having worked up dope using his Labradar, he makes the latest technology work for himself and for his clients.
Shepard Humphries – Nomad Rifleman C0-Founder
- Shepard on the other hand, isn’t very bright, is frustrated by technology stuff, thinks it is too slow and inaccurate, and prefers to use his gut, which is substantial. “I use my Kestrel and it typically gets me to within 2 MOA of a hit. My log book for a different gun does better than that!”
Shepard and Scott have different styles, however both typically arrive at very similar solutions. Scott will advise holding 6 MOA left and Shepard will nod because his gut told him “a bit over 5.” Shepard will make a wind call, and Scott will nod, his technology and his experience showing similar.
