Nick Jones is a former Marine Raider, decorated combat veteran, and passionate firearms instructor who brings elite-level experience, humility, and an unwavering commitment to safety to Jackson Hole Shooting Experience.
Raised in Olathe, Kansas, Nick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 2010—just one month after his 18th birthday. After completing the School of Infantry, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines as a mortarman before earning a position in the Scout Sniper Platoon. In 2012, he deployed to Afghanistan, where he further refined his skills in demanding, high-pressure environments.
Driven to serve at the highest levels, Nick pursued a career in Marine Special Operations. He was selected through the Marine Special Operations Assessment and Selection Program and completed training in 2014, joining 2nd Marine Raider Battalion, Hotel Company. During his time with Marine Special Operations, Nick served as an Element Member, Assistant Element Leader, and Element Leader, leading teams through complex training and combat operations across five deployments, three of which were combat deployments.
Throughout his military career, Nick was recognized for extraordinary valor and leadership. His decorations include the Navy Cross, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor, and the Purple Heart.
Following combat-related injuries sustained in March 2020, Nick underwent six major surgeries over an eighteen-month period and ultimately made the difficult decision to medically retire from the Marine Corps after twelve years of honorable service. His recovery journey reshaped his purpose and reinforced his commitment to service beyond the uniform.
In 2021, Nick founded Talons Reach Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Special Operations Forces veterans as they navigate life after service, rediscover purpose, and build resilience through community, mentorship, and the outdoors.
Nick and his wife, Hanah co-owner of Jackson Hole Shooting Experience now reside in Jackson with their three-year-old daughter, Freya. Their family also includes two dogs Fletcher, Nick’s service dog, and Teddy as well as their cat, Armando. Family, community, and intentional living are central to how they approach both life and business.
As the new owners of Jackson Hole Shooting Experience, Nick and Hanah are proud to continue its legacy while elevating the standard of instruction and guest experience. Their mission is simple: to provide safe, professional, and unforgettable shooting experiences rooted in discipline, respect, and world-class coaching whether guests are brand new to firearms or seasoned shooters.
