Firearms Range Safety Rules
- Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction. This is like having a personal safety bubble! Imagine your gun has a laser beam that can’t touch anything you don’t intend to shoot. Keeping it pointed safely helps everyone feel secure and happy.
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.Think of your trigger finger as a superhero waiting for the right moment! It stays off the trigger, resting patiently on the trigger guard or frame, until you’re absolutely ready to fire. This prevents any unexpected surprises!
- Know your target and what is beyond it.Just like a detective, be aware of your target and what’s behind it. This ensures that your shot is safe not only for your target but also for the area behind it. Safety first makes shooting a blast!
- Wear eye and ear protection.Suit up like a sports star! Protecting your eyes and ears is super important. Think of it as gearing up for fun while being safe. It’s like having a shield and armor in a knight’s tale!
- Inspect your firearm before use.Be like a detective inspecting for clues! Make sure your firearm is in good working order before you use it. This check-up can make your shooting experience smooth and worry-free.
- Use the correct ammunition.Match your ammo to your gun like you’d match your socks – the right pair makes all the difference! Using the correct ammunition ensures your shooting is safe and fun.
- Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.Keep a clear head, like a superhero on duty. Avoiding alcohol and drugs while shooting keeps you sharp and focused, making your experience safer and more enjoyable.
- Always unload your firearm when not in use.Like turning off the lights when leaving a room, always unload your gun when you’re done shooting. It’s a smart move for safety and peace of mind!
- Be aware of your surroundings.Be curious and observant, like an explorer! Knowing what’s around you helps prevent accidents and keeps the adventure of shooting safe and enjoyable.
- Follow the range officer’s commands.Think of the range officer as your guide on this exciting journey. Their instructions are there to keep everyone safe and ensure a fun, orderly experience for all.
