Scott Austin and Shepard Humphries, authors of Nomad Rifleman’s Extreme Long Range Shooting Fun, will be your instructors.
- 10am to 11am Scott will familiarize you with the DOPE needed with JHSE rifles for these matches, from 200 yards to 1,550 yards.
- 1am to noon Shepard will teach and help with hands-on experience ranging with the scope reticle.
With this knowledge, we promise you will be able to finish these monthly matches in the Top 10! (Until summer when 11 or more competitors start showing up)
About the matches:
Elden D. runs these matches with the help of Kevin K.. They are the 4th (I think) Saturday of each month. They require the ability to range with a rifle scope reticle, and no electronics like Kestrels are allowed. The gear you need for each match is 60 rounds of ammo, a Christmas tree reticle scoped rifle, an MOA/MIL ranging card, a spotting scope and your DOPE. Shepard encourages all coaches to compete in at least two of these matches to build knowledge & experience. JHSE coaches may use JHSE gear for these matches, including ammo.
Once each year, there is a 2-day Idaho State Sniper Match (see photo below).
