The Jackson Hole Shooting Experience owners and coaches all receive joy from giving to other folks without monetary compensation. In this post, we will mention a sampling of our giving. Owner Shepard Humphries clarifies that we “give” much more than we “give back.” Our philosophy is opposed to the collectivist concept that Philanthropy in Jackson Hole should be forced or even encouraged.
We further believe that most “100% free gifts” are not appreciated as much as when an investment is made. Our experience has shown that “free” stuff is not valued, so we typically make donations that are 50% to 95%, but require some “buy in.” Learn how to request a donation HERE.
We do not give because we must. We simply enjoy it! Sometimes we give money and sometimes our time. We do much volunteer work to help local shooting sports and we also have charitable interests in other areas:
One of our favorite charities is the Climb Program. While we dislike that some of the funds for this program come via forced taxation, we absolutely love their goals! At least once each year, we teach a Personal Protection class to these ladies and Lynn Sherwood gives advice on how to keep firearms safe in the home.
We donate a free CCW class each year to Bra’s For a Cause in honor of Lynn’s bonus-mom Christie, who died as a result of breast cancer early this decade.
We donated to a fund-raiser for a great organization, the St. Vincent Healthcare Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Shepard Humphries serves as a board member (Secretary) of the 501c3 Jackson Hole Shooting Sports Foundation.
Shepard and Lynn share a passion for mentoring entrepreneurs and enjoy the life-changing successes of those we are able to help create more value.
Our team has donated hundreds of hours of volunteer work to the Jackson Hole Shooting Range.
Other local organizations and causes we support include:
- JH Community School
- Stripping for a Cure (cancer – fly-fishing)
- Rotary Club in Jackson Hole (Shepard is a former member and Paul Harris Fellow)
- Wilson Volunteer Firefighters

- Neighbors in health crisis
